Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) Facility 2017-2018

The third call of the Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) Facility has been announced last month. G4AW is a grant program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and focuses on increasing and enhancing sustainable food production using satellite data.

A G4AW grant is accessible to partnerships that propose projects that implement information services that will provide food producers with timely, accurate and understandable satellite-based information, advice and/or (financial) products. The services developed under the G4AW programme help food producers to make the right decisions to sustain and increase their production and their livelihood.

Highlights of the program

  • Proposals for a G4AW grant must concern one G4AW partner country
  • Total EUR 19.8M budget, maximum grant amount EUR 3M
  • The project aims to increase yield or income for smallholder farmers, water use efficiency, or increased use of agricultural inputs.
  • At least one party needs to have demonstrable experience with satellite data processing.
  • The partnership is able to demonstrate a viable business case for after the subsidy period

Potential EARS contribution

EARS is a remote sensing company based in The Netherlands and has 30+ years of experience in operational satellite data processing. We would like to make this experience available to consortia that plan to apply for the grant. EARS services may include (but are not limited to):

  • Product development, monitoring and consultancy for satellite-based crop insurance
  • Risk assessment in finance and agriculture
  • Near real-time drought and climate monitoring
  • Crop yield forecasting
  • River basin management and flow forecasting

If you are interested in cooperation, have questions or an idea for which you'd like to explore the possibilities, please feel free to give us a call or send us a mail.
