What is the EARS-PPM

The PPM measures the quantum yield of photosynthesis. In other words: the efficiency of a plant to convert light and CO₂ into biomass. The measurement is non-invasive and done within a second. For a dark adapted, healthy leaf the maximum quantum yield, or light use efficiency, is about 80%. In increasing light the yield becomes lower because of light saturation and CO₂ limitation. The PPM has a wide range of applications in research, education as well as practice.
